Why it stands out
A daily observation exercise built around showing your reasoning.
Daily Holmes asks for more than spotting a hidden object. Its strongest idea is the chain from visible detail to written inference: players must show what they noticed and why it supports a conclusion. That makes the reveal useful when the case and evaluator allow more than one reasonable reading.
Best for
- Visual observers who enjoy explaining how small details support a larger conclusion.
- Players looking for a short daily detective exercise rather than a fixed-answer quiz.
Think twice if
- Players who prefer every inference to have one completely objective interpretation.
- Players who do not want an AI evaluator involved in scoring open-ended answers.
Daily Holmes treats observation as an argument rather than a scavenger hunt. A case gives you a room, desk, workshop, or other lived-in space and asks what can reasonably be inferred from it. Pins preserve the connection between the physical clue and the written claim, so a good answer needs both attention and an intelligible chain of reasoning.
The reveal is also the game’s main point of friction. Its evaluator is meant to reward evidence and logic rather than a lucky final guess, but open-ended deductions are difficult to score consistently. In the early launch discussion, players reported plausible alternatives being judged too literally and visual artifacts supporting unintended conclusions; the creator acknowledged both problems and described work on the grader and case sourcing.
That tension defines the fit. Daily Holmes is most interesting when you enjoy arguing from incomplete visual evidence and then comparing interpretations. It is less suitable when you want a puzzle whose answer can be verified by one unambiguous rule.
How to play
- Break the seal and study the photograph for objects, wear, placement, and other details that may act as clues.
- Drop pins on the evidence, add short observations, and explain the deduction that connects those details.
- File the case before midnight, then compare your reasoning with the scored reveal and the bonus facts you missed.
