Verified round model
How a round of FacetWord works.
Objective, input, feedback and stopping condition checked 29 September 2026.
Objective
Identify each target word from its meanings across the five-puzzle daily set.
Your move
Type a word and submit GUESS, or request the next meaning; choose a timed mode for the fifth puzzle.
What changes
A correct guess reveals the answer and its meanings. Wrong guesses reveal another clue during the ordinary puzzles.
Round end
Each ordinary puzzle permits one guess per meaning across three meanings; the fifth puzzle ends within its selected time and guess limits.
Why it stands out
Save room for a timed final puzzle with one false clue.
Multiple meanings let you reconsider a familiar word as a noun or verb. The final impostor clue adds a separate elimination task, with a timer that may frustrate players seeking an entirely unhurried word game.
Best for
- Players who enjoy finding several meanings in an everyday English word.
- Solvers who want a short sequence with a different rule for its final puzzle.
Think twice if
- Players who want every part of their word game to be untimed.
Consider another meaning before another word
FacetWord asks for one word that fits several definitions. A first clue can suggest many answers. Before submitting yours, consider whether the word has other common uses: a noun might also work as a verb, or a literal meaning might have a familiar slang counterpart.
You get one guess per meaning. An incorrect answer reveals the next clue; the reveal control also lets you move on when you cannot form a useful guess. Read the new meaning alongside the earlier one. A word that fits only the latest definition must also fit the earlier meanings.
During our check, a correct first-clue answer displayed all three meanings and a First Clue result. Next opened question two of five. That confirms the basic answer-and-progress loop; we did not complete the day’s entire set.
The Twist changes your decision
The fifth puzzle shows four clues at once. Three fit the answer and one is an impostor. Compare pairs of clues to find a plausible shared word, then check which third clue also fits. Trying to explain all four would preserve the deliberate mismatch.
Choose the mode before its difficulty is revealed. One Shot gives you 25 seconds and a single guess. Play It Safe gives you 45 seconds and three guesses. For a first session, the longer mode leaves more time to check which clue you intend to discard. These limits are documented in the official help; we have not independently completed both modes.
Persistent progress and daily limits
Solved words advance your Facet toward later gemstone stages. The rules say that progress survives missed days. Flawless Facets are separate rewards for a perfect day, a One Shot win, or a seven-day streak, and can be spent on cosmetics in the menu.
The checked puzzles required no account or payment. We have not verified the exact reset timezone or access conditions for the Past Puzzles menu, so neither is promised here. The local embedded view stayed blank, so our Play button opens the official site. Players need substantial English vocabulary, including informal meanings.
For visible choices instead of typed answers, try Wordspool. Its target is known and you follow associations between words; FacetWord keeps the answer hidden and supplies its definitions.
How to play
- Read the first meaning and type the single word you think fits it.
- A wrong guess reveals another meaning; you can also request another meaning when stuck.
- Continue through five puzzles. In the final Twist, find the word matching three of four clues within your chosen time and guess limits.

Before you play
Questions before you play.
- How many guesses does FacetWord allow?
- Ordinary puzzles give one guess per meaning, with up to three meanings. A wrong guess automatically reveals the next meaning.
- What changes in the fifth puzzle?
- The Twist shows four clues together. Three describe one word and one is an impostor. One Shot allows 25 seconds and one guess; Play It Safe allows 45 seconds and three guesses.
- Can I see the Twist difficulty before choosing a mode?
- The rules say its Easy, Medium or Hard difficulty is revealed only after you choose a mode. The difficulty varies by day.
- Does missing a day reset my Facet progress?
- The official rules say your Facet's progression persists if you miss a day. This is separate from the seven-day streak reward.

The evidence behind this page.
The official rules and anonymous gameplay were checked on September 29, 2026. A first-clue answer was accepted and the second puzzle opened; the Twist details come from the rules rather than a completed timed run.
