Verified round model

How a round of FilmSweep works.

Objective, input, feedback and stopping condition checked 30 September 2026.

Objective

Select all movies that satisfy both their actor row and criterion column before time or lives run out.

Your move

Click movie posters in the grid; movie and actor detail controls provide additional reference information.

What changes

Correct selections advance the board, while incorrect choices consume lives; one decoy is designated as the bomb.

Round end

The board ends after all correct options are selected, the three-minute timer expires, all three lives are lost, or the bomb is selected.

Why it stands out

Solve the intersections you know first; the bomb punishes blind coverage.

FilmSweep combines cast recall with a second filter such as runtime, box office or release decade. The bomb rule makes random coverage risky, so the useful decision is which actor-column intersection you can verify most confidently first.

Best for

  • Movie-trivia players who can connect actors to films under time pressure.
  • Grid-game players who prefer visible candidates over typing titles from memory.

Think twice if

  • Players who want an untimed movie puzzle or dislike a single mistake ending the round.

Two conditions for every poster

FilmSweep lays out actor names as rows and movie criteria as columns. A poster is correct only when both labels apply. On the checked board, the columns asked for a runtime under 100 minutes, box office above $500 million and a release in the 2000s. The same actor can therefore demand a different kind of recall in each column.

Start with intersections where the cast connection and the criterion are both clear. A recognizable blockbuster may settle a box-office column, while a film you remember as short can anchor the runtime column. Actor and movie detail controls are available, but the clock continues to make verification costly.

Three lives and one bomb

The board starts with three minutes and three lives. An ordinary decoy costs a life. One decoy is the bomb and can end the run immediately, so selecting every plausible poster is not a useful strategy. Resolve the strongest matches first; the remaining row and column constraints can make weaker candidates easier to judge later.

The round ends when every correct option is selected or when time, lives or the bomb stops the run. The checked session confirmed the active timer, life counter, score and full poster grid, but it did not complete the board or independently audit the underlying movie data.

Daily access

FilmSweep refreshes at midnight Eastern Time. The daily board opened without an account or payment. The site also exposes past games, a global leaderboard, player statistics and eight interface languages; archive limits, account-linked history and mobile interaction were not tested in this review.

For a movie grid built around recalled titles instead of supplied candidates, try Cinematrix. Actorle Fill The Grid is another filmography-focused alternative without FilmSweep’s same timer-and-bomb combination.

How to play

  1. Read each actor row and the criterion at the top of each movie column.
  2. Select movies that both feature the row's actor and satisfy the column condition.
  3. Avoid ordinary decoys to preserve three lives, and avoid the single bomb that can end the round immediately.
  4. Find every correct option before the three-minute timer expires.

The evidence behind this page.

The official rules and daily board 525 were checked anonymously on September 30, 2026. The board loaded actor rows, criterion columns, posters, timer, lives and score; the local embedded view stayed blank, so the page uses the official-link fallback. The round was not completed and mobile play was not tested.
