Verified round model
How a round of Rikivo Numbers works.
Objective, input, feedback and stopping condition checked 3 October 2026.
Objective
Place the numbers 1 through 16 once each in a valid continuous sequence.
Your move
Select an empty grid square and enter its number with the on-screen digit pad.
What changes
Entered numbers appear in the selected squares; the tile shades provide distance constraints for each next step.
Round end
The puzzle is complete when all 16 numbers form a sequence satisfying the grid constraints.
Why it stands out
Read the departure shade before choosing the next tile.
Rikivo separates distance from direction. Fixed numbers constrain possible routes, while the shade under each departure number decides the length of its next move.
Best for
- Solvers who enjoy tracing an ordered route between fixed clues.
- Players who prefer visual constraints to typed vocabulary guesses.
Think twice if
- Players who want a trivia or image-recognition challenge.
Read the departure square
Rikivo Numbers asks you to place 1 through 16 in a four-by-four grid. Each number appears once. Movement between consecutive numbers must be horizontal or vertical; diagonals are not allowed. The shade of the square you are leaving supplies the jump distance: one square for white, two for light gray and three for dark gray.
The distance does not tell you the direction. Check both parts separately: which squares are exactly the required distance away, and which remain available in the sequence? Given numbers restrict the route and let you reason from more than just the starting square.
From the maker
Leigh, the maker of Rikivo, submitted Numbers alongside Rikivo Words on October 2. He describes Numbers as a daily logic puzzle with a single solution, using shaded tiles to specify the distance between consecutive numbers. Both games are free browser games without an account, according to his submission. The single-solution property is the maker’s statement; this check did not enumerate all possible paths.
Work between fixed numbers
Start by inspecting the shortest gaps between givens. If two consecutive numbers are fixed, their relationship immediately tests the departure shade. For a longer gap, keep the intermediate placements consistent with each step rather than treating the grid as a set of unrelated blanks.
The official tutorial explains the distance rules. The checked daily board accepted a number from the on-screen pad and displayed it in the selected square. This confirms input, not correctness of that placement or completed-board validation. No account or payment was required. The exact reset time, archive access and mobile controls were not tested.
The public footer credits LGW Innovation Ltd. Its companion Rikivo Words uses the same shade-distance idea with word clues.
How to play
- Read the given numbers before filling the empty squares.
- Use the shade of the square you leave to determine the next jump distance.
- Move horizontally or vertically, never diagonally.
- Fill each number from 1 to 16 exactly once.
