Why it stands out

Each solved clue reshapes the search for the next answer.

Zaggle's useful twist is that the word-search board does not stay still. Every accepted clue answer removes letters and changes the geometry of the remaining search, so later paths depend on the order and shape of the words already cleared.

Best for

  • Crossword solvers who want authored clues with a spatial tracing step.
  • Players who like choosing between a timed competitive solve and an unranked casual mode.

Think twice if

  • Players who dislike timers, hint penalties, or searching through adjacent-letter paths.
  • Players looking for open-ended word finding instead of five authored answers.

Zaggle starts with a crossword-style clue but asks for a word-search action. The answer must be traced through neighboring letters, including diagonals, without reusing a cell inside the same word. Dragging works as one continuous gesture, while tapping allows the same path to be built one letter at a time.

Finding the word is only half of the board logic. An accepted answer disappears immediately, letters above it fall, and new letters enter from the top. That changing layout gives the five-clue sequence more structure than a static word search: every success creates the board on which the next answer must be found. A hint can reveal the next letter position, but adds thirty seconds to the timer.

Competitive mode records completion time, average time, completed games, and a global percentile rank. Casual mode removes that statistical consequence, which makes it the better first choice for learning how falling letters affect later paths. Core progress stays in the browser; the official privacy text says an anonymous competitive time may be submitted to calculate the percentile.

How to play

  1. Read the clue for the next hidden word.
  2. Drag or tap through adjacent letters, including diagonals, to spell the answer.
  3. Clear all five words as used letters disappear and new letters fall into the grid.
